T. William Heyck (PhD Texas, 1969), Charles Deering McCormick Professor of Teaching Excellence, is a historian of 19th and 20th century Britain and Ireland, and the author of The Dimensions of British Radicalism: The Case of Ireland, 1874-95, The Transformation of Intellectual Life in Victorian England, and The Peoples of British Isles: A New History (2 volumes). He is currently working on The Idea of the Intellectual in 20th Century Britain, which will include a study of British intellectuals in the public sphere, as well as the origins and development of key academic disciplines.
