Nicholas Baker (BA Hons., MA, University of Melbourne) is a social and cultural historian of early modern Europe (ca. 1400-1700), specializing in Renaissance Italy. He also maintains an interest in Italian society, culture and politics since World War II. He is particularly concerned with political culture, gender roles and identities, and violence. He also has a special interest in utilizing non-written sources, such as art works and architecture, in historical research.
