Application Procedures

This year's application season begins on September 12, 2012. You will not be able to submit an application before that date. The deadline for receipt of applications and all supporting documents is December 1, 2012. All admissions are for Fall 2013.

To apply to the Ph.D. program, go to the "Admission" page of the website of the Graduate School.

If you have any questions not answered by this website, write to annerys.cano@northwestern.edu. You can also directly contact faculty you are interested in working with. Faculty descriptions and e-mail addresses are available in the "Faculty" section of this website.

Required Application Materials

• Application Form (online)
• Application Fee
• Statement of Purpose
• Two (max. three) Letters of Recommendation
• Original Transcripts from all College/University Work
• TOEFL or IELTS Scores for Foreign Applicants
• Writing Sample (approx. 15-35 pp.)

We do not require the GRE for Admission.

All application materials must be submitted eletronically to the Graduate School.
