Caitlin Monroe

Caitlin Monroe is a third-year doctoral student in the history department and a Mellon Cluster Fellow in Northwestern's Program of African Studies. She is interested in intellectual histories of the African Great Lakes region, with a current project focusing on storytelling, gendered knowledge, and education in western Uganda. She holds a BA in African history and an MA in African Studies from Stanford University and worked as a program assistant for a development NGO in Burundi and as a high school history teacher before coming to Northwestern.
