Gabrielle Guillerm

Gabrielle Guillerm is a doctoral candidate in American history, specializing in the history of the early republic and religion. Her dissertation “The Forgotten French: Catholicism, Colonialism, and Americanness on the Early Trans-Appalachian Frontier” explores the contentious process of defining American identity in the new nation. It analyzes French Catholic influences in the Midwest and Kentucky and the encounter between Catholics and other trans-Appalachian populations.
