Biography

Cayla studies African American history from the late antebellum period through the Reconstruction Era. Her research interests include women and gender during Reconstruction, children and child labor, class, comparative emancipation, and comparative post civil war societies. Before coming to Northwestern, Cayla graduated with a Bachelor’s of Arts from the College of William & Mary in 2022.
