Emilie Takayama (PhD 2018)
During the first half of my postdoctoral year at Harvard Business School I served as a teaching assistant for an MBA business history course, Entrepreneurship and Global Capitalism. I helped put together a new case on the history of instant noodles for the course. MBA classes are very different from history graduate seminars, so this was an incredibly valuable learning experience. The second half of the academic year was supposed to be dedicated to research for my book on the Japanese beauty industry. I was unfortunately prevented from doing archival research in Japan due to COVID-19 and spent much of the Spring semester working on my book manuscript at home. I will be at HBS for another year, and I am looking forward to having fellow history department alumna Marlous van Waijenburg join me at the school.
